On Gratitude

This year at Thanksgiving, we are grateful to You, God our Father…
Not just for what You’ve given us,
but what You’ve kept us from.
Not just for our family,
but for spiritual siblings… parents… sons and daughters… grandchildren.
Not just for our friends,
but those who someday will be.
Not just for those we celebrate with,
but those far away. And those who’ve left us.
Not just for our health,
but for all the healing You’ve done in us.
Not just for what You’ve taught us,
but everything we are still learning.
Not just for You,
but for who we are, with You and in You.
We’re grateful for it all.
What we know.
What we don’t know.
What we will know.
And what we’ll never know.
We’re grateful because You do know. And You Are.
